The digitalisation of public administration is rapidly gaining momentum in Schleswig-Holstein. With the OZG Cloud, the federal state has not only implemented an efficient tool for processing online applications without media discontinuity, but has also taken on a pioneering role in the nationwide digitalisation landscape.
The OZG cloud is becoming a crucial element of administrative digitization in Germany. Schleswig-Holstein and Bavaria are already working together to make applications available to municipalities in this way, to expand them, and to always keep them up to date - a model for other German states.
The OZG-Cloud is a pioneering project to advance the digitalization of administration in Germany. The platform, which was commissioned by the state of Schleswig-Holstein and the IT-Verbund Schleswig-Holstein (ITV.SH) and developed under an open source license, offers local authorities the opportunity to process applications from online services. The advantages: Reduction of workload, collaboration option between individual municipalities and forwarding of digital applications to specialist processes. The connection to the OZG cloud also means less work for IT specialists.
How can administrative services with maturity level 4 be implemented for companies? In a joint workshop of the states of Bavaria, Schleswig-Holstein and mgm, this was demonstrated using the example of the Enterprise Platform Germany (UP-D) at the Smart Country Convention (SCCON).
After 2022, another hackathon was held in Kiel: "SH:digital". Over the course of four days, experts from manufacturers and public administration worked together in various teams to develop initial solutions for the digitization of administrative processes using different LowCode/NoCode tools.
It is hard to imagine today's digital world without cloud solutions. Many companies in different industries are also outsourcing their IT infrastructure to the cloud. The advantages are obvious: cost reduction, scalability of IT services and significant savings in maintenance and servicing. What is currently still missing is a cloud solution that follows European standards - thus providing a counterpart to the American cloud providers.
When it comes to digitizing administration, the bundling of competencies can provide decisive impetus for innovation and optimization. However, it is important not to create isolated structures in the process. The practical and lasting impact on the ground should be considered at the same time.
IT infrastructure projects are notoriously complex and pose major challenges, especially for federal administrations and municipalities. To meet these challenges efficiently in the OZG context, IT infrastructures can be developed and provided according to the principle of "one for all" (EfA). In projects such as the OZG Cloud, the Funding Finder or MODUL-F, we have gained diverse experience with projects of this kind.
From June 19-21, the future congress State and Administration will take place in Berlin's Westhafen (WECC). At the leading event for modern and digital Germany, which deals with the challenges and opportunities of digitization and technological innovation in the public sector, mgm will be represented on all three days of the congress with contributions on various topics.
The OZG Cloud, commissioned by the state of Schleswig-Holstein and the IT-Verbund Schleswig-Holstein (ITV.SH) and developed under open source license, offers municipalities the possibility to process applications from online services independently. The application is developed as an EfA solution and can be used and thus reused throughout Germany. The first pilot projects in other German states have already started.
