The security division of the mgm group, mgm security partners GmbH, is expanding its management team: Dr. Bastian Braun has joined the three-man management team. At the same time, the shareholders have appointed him the second managing director.
Bastian Braun studied Computer Science and Business Administration at the RWTH Aachen. After graduation, where he discovered his fascination for IT and application security early on, he joined the “Security in Distributed Systems” research group at the University of Hamburg before moving to the interdisciplinary “Institute for IT Security and Security Law” at the University of Passau. He was active in the European research project WebSand (Server-driven Outbound Web-application Sandboxing). His doctoral thesis deals with the security aspects of multi-step workflows in web applications (title: “Web-based Secure Application Control”). Since joining mgm security partners in 2015, Bastian has been involved in establishing the consulting division.
Nine years at mgm and Head of Consulting
“In his role as Head of Consulting, Bastian Braun has increasingly become a pillar of mgm security partners over the years,” says founder and managing director Thomas Schreiber. “With his commitment and knowledge, he has achieved a high level of recognition throughout the mgm cosmos and beyond. It’s great that we can now move forward together with a strengthened management team.”
After almost nine years at mgm, Bastian Braun will take over the management of the company in addition to his consulting duties: “Our team of so many excellent colleagues has set a number of standards in recent years, to which I have been able to contribute. I am very much looking forward to continuing this development together and to taking on more commercial responsibility in the future.
Together with Co-Managing Director Thomas Schreiber and Head of Development Alois Richthofer, Bastian Braun now forms part of the management team. Schreiber founded mgm security partners in 1998 as SecureNet GmbH and focused on the security of web applications at an early stage. The range of services currently includes consulting, analysis and training in all aspects of web and mobile application security. Since 2014, the company has been majority-owned by mgm technology partners GmbH and has around 50 employees at seven locations in Germany and abroad.
