On May 31 and June 1, this year’s SAP Forum for Commerce took place in Mainz. In the Rheingoldhalle, customers, partners and representatives of the software provider discussed the effects of digitalization on the wholesale and retail business. A particular focus was on the development of commerce to “Live Business” – that is to say the improvement of the shopping experience and sales success on the basis of live and immediately used data.
A joint team of mgm and Allgeier ES demonstrated in a groceries webshop showcase how the shopping experience in the food retail sector could look like in the future. In this example, orders placed online were received at a stationary pick-up point and transported to the car by a robot. This click & collect process was implemented using SAP Hybris and SAP/4 HANA Retail. The integration of the digital language assistant Alexa developed by Amazon also enabled voice-based online orders. In addition, the customer had already been identified during the approach by the car tag, which he had specified in the checkout process, so that his goods could be automatically delivered and handed over to the delivery robot.
