mgm and OpenTalk announce partnership: Integration of video conferencing into the A12 platform

mgm has entered into a strategic partnership with OpenTalk. OpenTalk offers a secure video conferencing solution based on open source and is part of the Berlin-based Heinlein Group. The goal of the collaboration is to integrate OpenTalk into mgm’s A12 enterprise low-code platform to create a comprehensive and easy-to-use video conferencing solution, especially for the public sector.

Short & concise

  • mgm enters into a strategic partnership with OpenTalk, a Berlin-based provider of video conferencing solutions.
  • The aim is to provide a comprehensive and easy-to-use video conferencing solution, especially for the public sector, and thus an option for video-supported business processes.
  • An optional OpenTalk module for the A12 platform is expected to be available as part of a proof of concept in the first half of 2024.

The collaboration between mgm and OpenTalk will enable the seamless integration of secure video conferencing into digital business processes in the public sector. With our enterprise low-code platform A12, the technical aspects of complex applications can be implemented without programming knowledge through model-based development. The platform is already widely used in the public sector.

Easy-to-use, browser-based collaboration options for the public sector

Whether for existing business processes or new projects, the implementation of easy-to-use and schedulable video conferencing increases the variety and efficiency of government interactions for citizens and businesses. Secure collaboration within government is also possible. The functionality can be integrated directly into business processes or managed via OpenTalk’s API interface, in your own data center or as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) service. The solution is completely browser-based, so there is no software to install. Communication over the system can be easily initialized using an access link, for example.

“The benefits of digital video and audio meetings for efficient problem solving have become increasingly apparent in recent years. We are convinced that this will also find its way into communications with and from government agencies,” said Sergio Lerena Robles, member of the mgm board of directors. “Our partnership with OpenTalk provides an excellent opportunity to meet this need and will create real value for our customers.”

For Markus Michels, managing director of OpenTalk, the partnership with mgm is part of a longer-term strategy: “Our goal is to provide the public sector with a highly secure and digitally sovereign video conferencing solution. That’s why we recently initiated the BSI certification process, and we’re pleased to have found a partner in mgm that already has an established low-code platform for public administration. OpenTalk can therefore be seamlessly integrated into existing and future digital government processes.”

Secure Open Source Video Conferencing – GDPR compliant

OpenTalk is a GDPR compliant open source solution developed in Germany. As part of the cooperation, the development teams also plan to integrate the secure login procedures established in administration, such as BundID or login via ELSTER organization certificates – in accordance with the Online Access Act. So that other administrative areas can also use the OpenTalk extension, it will be published on OpenCoDE.de under the European Public License (EUPL) and is therefore EfA-compatible (“One for All”).

The technical details of integrating OpenTalk as an optional module in the A12 platform are currently being developed as part of a proof of concept. The solution is expected to be available in the first half of 2024.
