From September 26 to 28, 2022, Aachen will become a Mecca for enthusiasts of technical languages. At the Language Developer’s Meetup (LangDev), leading international experts from research and industry will meet to discuss the latest developments in software language engineering. mgm is sponsoring the event and will be contributing a keynote speech. The event is hosted by the Chair of Software Engineering at RWTH Aachen University headed by Prof. Dr. Bernhard Rumpe.

Short & Concise

  • LangDev 2022 will be held at the Computer Science Center of RWTH Aachen University from September 26-28, 2022.
  • mgm sponsors the event and is represented at the Meetup with a presentation and several experts.
  • During two and a half days with more than 20 presentations, representatives from research and industry will discuss current developments in Software Language Engineering.

Technical languages have been an established field of research in computer science for many years and are always good for innovations. The trend towards low code/no code approaches in particular shows the influence the field has on the practice of software engineering. Without domain-specific languages (DSL), low-code platforms would be unthinkable.

Insights into state-of-the-art language engineering methods

At LangDev 2022, an international community specialized in the development and application of technical languages will meet at the Computer Science Center of RWTH Aachen University. Over the course of two and a half days, representatives from research and industry will present current research results and findings from their work. The focus will be on methods and tools that can be used to systematically define, implement, analyze, process and apply software languages. The topics range from workbenches for the design of DSLs to the use of DSLs in specific use cases and the modeling of digital twins.

A common feature of the presentations: They are not only theoretical in nature. Rather, the organizers place great emphasis on practical relevance. Thus, plenty of live demos are to be expected, showing the developed tools and methods in action. This year, the event is being organized by Prof. Dr. Bernhard Rumpe and Nico Jansen from the Chair of Software Engineering at RWTH Aachen University. mgm is supporting LangDev 2022 as a sponsor and will be represented at the Meetup by several experts. Dr. Timo Greifenberg from mgm will present the Enterprise Low Code Platform A12 in a lecture on September 27 at 9 am.

Research cooperation for model-based software development

mgm has been maintaining a strategic research cooperation with the Chair of Software Engineering at RWTH Aachen University in the field of model-based software development since the beginning of 2020. It aims to incorporate the latest research findings into the Enterprise Low Code Platform A12 developed by mgm. In addition, mgm is involved in teaching with practical approaches around the low code paradigm.
