The mediation process for the OZG has been decided and we finally have a settlement proposal. The digitalisation of public administration in Germany must now be driven forward quickly. However, a law alone is not enough. We need real political will to adapt our state and its administration to the challenges of our time.
What is still needed is a radical rethink at the federal state level, a critical review of the tasks involved in providing services at the municipal level, and a technical basis. The OZG is an important building block here and, if consistently implemented, brings considerable advantages:
- Easier access: administrative services are available online 24/7 – no more queues at government offices. Applications and documents can be submitted from the comfort of your own home.
- Cost reduction & increased efficiency: Less paper and personnel through digital workflows with once-only principle and automation save costs in the medium and long term for administrations and for companies and, in view of demographic change, ensure a functional administration in the future as well.
- Innovation & competitiveness: standardised interfaces and complete digitalisation create the framework for innovations from the GovTech sector and enable faster and more efficient collaboration between the state, citizens and businesses in solving new and increasingly interconnected and complex challenges.
Consistent implementation makes public administration more citizen-friendly and efficient. This increases citizen satisfaction and trust in the state and strengthens Germany’s position as an attractive business location.
This mediation process has brought us a good deal closer to our goal of fully digital, end-to-end process chains and service-oriented and citizen-friendly administrative services. It is particularly important that the federal and state governments have agreed on consistent end-to-end digitisation and the use of a common Germany ID.
The task now is to implement the OZG quickly and to modernise the registers. We are ready to help as a solution partner for public administration, and we are passionate about providing you with support based on our extensive experience.
