Last Updated on 2. June 2025 by mgm-marketing

The international software company mgm technology partners GmbH became a new member of the Open Source Business Alliance (OSBA) in April. By joining, mgm is underscoring its long-standing commitment to open source technologies as the foundation for durable enterprise software.

The OSB Alliance is the largest network of companies and organisations in the German-speaking world committed to the use and further development of open source software. Over 230 members – from start-ups to large companies – pool their knowledge, experience and political demands in the OSBA. The aim is to strengthen digital sovereignty in Germany and Europe. With mgm, a company that has been implementing enterprise software solutions with open source components for years is now strengthening the network.

mgm’s software solutions – for both public administration and the private sector – are based on an enterprise platform approach that combines standardisation and adaptability. Open interfaces, modular architectures and transparent development processes are at the heart of this approach. This results in long-lasting applications that are viable even in complex, security-critical environments – while at the same time promoting digital self-determination. In addition, mgm consistently relies on open source components for identity management, databases and workflow modelling in components of the A12 development platform.

‘We see open source not only as a technology issue, but as a strategic building block for innovation and digital sovereignty,’ says Janos Standt, Head of Public Sector at mgm. ’There is still a lot of potential in the open source sector in Germany, especially for the digital implementation of technical aspects – from application submission to processing in specialist procedures to register connection. Membership in the OSB Alliance gives us the opportunity to share this understanding, provide impetus and actively participate in political and technological developments.’

The OSB Alliance also welcomes the new member: ‘With mgm technology partners, our network is gaining an experienced company that has been successfully using open source in large projects for many years. Digital sovereignty is a pressing issue, especially in the public sector – we look forward to the exchange and joint initiatives,’ explains Stefan Zosel, Deputy Chairman of the OSB Alliance.

The collaboration is to be expanded in the coming months, including through contributions to working groups, events and joint positioning on digital topics of the future. The focus will be on aspects such as secure cloud infrastructures, open administration software and the legal framework for open source.
