I’d like to share a glimpse of a new approach our design team has been experimenting with to visualize test runs more effectively. After a fruitful brainstorming session with my team, one of our designers proposed a unique chart to condense large amounts of test run information into a single, compact view.

What you see in the image
In the center: A test run displaying its overall execution status (currently at 79%).
Radiating outward: Connections to test suites that make up this run.
Within each suite: Small “nodes” representing folders and individual test cases.
Color coding:
- Gray – Not executed
- Blue – Passed
- Pink – Not passed
Despite representing around 500 test cases and their execution results, the entire chart occupies only about half a laptop screen. Hovering over any node reveals more detailed information in a tool tip, such as the test case title and a quick summary of results.
Why it matters
When dealing with large-scale testing, managing and monitoring countless test cases can be overwhelming. This visualization aims to give test managers and testers a fast, holistic understanding of test progress, status, and structure—without having to click through multiple screens or spreadsheets.
What’s next
Currently, this visualization is still in the experimental stage. We’ll refine its specifications over the coming weeks, with the goal to start implementing it by the end of Q1 2025. For now, we’re eagerly gathering feedback to ensure the final solution meets real-world testing needs.
